Spider-Man: Far from Home

The movie begins in a Mexican city where Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) have arrived to explore the area after a hurricane "with a face" is said to have torn through the city. A short while later, the two come upon an Elemental, specifically the one who has control over the ground. Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal), a guy with special abilities who meets Fury and Maria, aids the two in battling the Ground Elemental.

Switch to the Midtown School of Science and Technology, where Jason Ionello (Jorge Lindeborg, Jr.) and Betty Brant (Angourie Rice) are presenting their daily school news broadcast. However, they begin with a "In Memoriam" for Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Vision. When The Snap (or "The Blip," as it is known here from "Avengers: Endgame") occurred, many students were wiped away before coming back to life, but they discovered that some of their younger classmates had now physically exceeded them. Betty retells the events of The Snap.

Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) and Peter Parker (Tom Holland) talk about Peter Parker's (Tom Holland) attempts to win over Michelle Jones/MJ (Zendaya), on whom he has formed a crush. They are getting ready for a class vacation to Europe, and Peter wants to be able to express his feelings to her.

Later, with Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) by his side, Peter attends a charity event as Spider-Man (and we learn that she got "blipped" too). Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), who appears to be making out with May, greets them. He alerts Peter that Fury will phone him, which he does nearly immediately, but Peter ignores him because he has other concerns. When he emerges as Spidey to speak with reporters, they bombard him with inquiries about taking over as the next Iron Man or the main Avenger, so he had to leave.

Peter decides to leave the Spider-Man suit behind so he can enjoy his vacation, but later discovers that May packed it for him nonetheless as the class departs for the trip. They are joined by other pupils, including Flash Thompson (Tony Revolori), who is still a huge Spiderman fan but also still dumps on Peter, and are chaperoned by Mr. Harrington (Martin Starr) and Mr. Dell (J.B. Smoove).

On the plane, Peter tries to get Ned to help him exchange seats so that he can sit with MJ, but Ned instead manages to get Mr. Harrington to take Peter and put MJ next to Brad Davis (Remy Hii), who is one of the kids that didn't get dusted and grew up to be a handsome, athletic superstar. Ned sits next to Betty, and the two end up getting together. Peter is obviously envious.

The group makes its first stop in Venice, Italy. When Peter tries to get closer to MJ, they stay in a lousy motel but take the opportunity to take in the sights. The water levels on the ground begin to rise abruptly. A huge water elemental soon starts to devastate the city by flooding it or destroying its buildings.

Peter tries to address the situation, but his Spider-Man outfit is still at the motel. When Beck shows up, he uses his abilities to combat the Water Elemental. He is able to stop the creature's strikes before eventually dividing it in half. Peter's classmates admire him and begin to refer to him as "Mysterio" after seeing a news broadcast on him.

Ned is tranquillized by Fury as Peter and Ned return to their room. Up until now, he has failed in his attempts to capture Peter's attention. Since everyone keeps interrupting them, they had to leave the room so they can speak in privacy. Fury brings Peter to his covert location so they can meet Maria and Beck. The Elementals are coming from an alternate Earth, according to Beck, who explains where he is from. Beck asserts that the Fire Elemental was the one who allegedly destroyed his home Earth and his family as a result of The Snap. Fury wants Peter's assistance in retaliating, but he doesn't believe he is the Avenger most equipped to take on creatures of this calibre.

When Beck and Fury know Prague is where the Fire Elemental is going to attack, they use Dimitri (Numan Acar), one of Fury's employees, to drive the class to a new and unexpected location. A tall woman Fury sent takes Peter and gives him a stealth suit before he leaves. She commands him to remove his clothes and put them on, but Brad finds him and snaps a picture of Peter appearing to be in an inappropriate position. Peter yells at him to throw away the photo, but Brad responds that he knows Peter also likes MJ and that he believes showing her this will make her lean further in his direction.

On their journey, Peter discovers Tony's futuristic spectacles, EDITH (pronounced "Even Dead, I'm The Hero"), which he left for his successor. EDITH is voiced by Dawn Michelle King. As Peter asks EDITH to deal with Brad, she interprets his plea as permission to attack Brad. Peter must (somewhat) covertly prevent the approaching drone from killing Brad and the entire class. He just instructs EDITH to hack Brad's phone and remove the image.

As they arrive in Prague, Mr. Harrington informs the students that they have opera tickets, disabling their plans to attend the carnival. But, this was all part of Fury's master plot to keep Peter's pals inside and out of harm's way from the Fire Elemental. Peter is compelled to remain outside and keep watch, thwarting HIS intention to sit next to MJ. Ned and Betty follow him outside after she does because they believe the other two are going to the carnival.

The Fire Elemental appears outside and starts to attack. In order to prevent the beast from touching metal and gaining more power, Spidey and Mysterio band together to battle it. While Mysterio battles the Fire Elemental, Spidey tries to rescue Ned and Betty who are stuck on the Ferris wheel. When Spidey throws a web at the creature, it draws something from it and causes it to land next to a MJ that is concealed. The Fire Elemental's chest is subsequently destroyed by Mysterio using his powers to dive inside it. Peter descends to check on the man. He continues to receive criticism from Fury for disobeying his orders, nevertheless.

Fury and Maria phone Peter and Beck to talk about assembling a new squad as the group relocates to Berlin. Peter meets with Beck in secret and believes Beck is the only candidate worthy of EDITH because Tony solely left it up to him to decide who should succeed Iron Man. Beck destroys the entire illusion that had been present in the old building once Peter has left. All of the people who work for him there are unhappy former workers of Stark Industries.

Beck has been fabricating the Elementals in order to portray himself as the hero, utilising drones to produce the damage they leave in their wake. He, along with everyone else there, were furious with Tony for stealing their creation, his Binary Augmented Retro Framing (BARF), and they all collaborated to induce people to forget about Iron Man and Spider-Man so that Mysterio could take their place.

Peter returns to the hotel and asks MJ to go out on a date by herself. She interrupts him as he tries to express his feelings by saying that she knows he is Spider-Man because of all the "coincidences" involving their being in the same places at the same time. She then takes out a projector that depicts Mysterio battling the as-yet-unseen Air Elemental that she discovered at the scene of the Fire Elemental combat. The two come to the conclusion that Beck is a liar and is responsible for the Elementals. Beck and his henchmen discover that Peter is holding the missing projector from one of their drones as they get ready for the Air Elemental "Avengers level" attack.

When Peter travels to meet with Fury and Maria to discuss Beck's genuine intentions, it turns out that Beck has already caught up to Peter and has concocted a comprehensive illusion to ensnare him. Peter is forced to watch a projection of Tony emerging from his grave to frighten him as he mocks Peter for not being the hero he wants to be.

Peter reveals that he told MJ, Ned, and that Ned presumably told Betty after Fury seemed to have subdued Beck and inquires as to whoever else he had notified about Beck. As it turns out, Beck is up to another trick, and he now knows to murder Peter's buddies. Also, he places Peter in the path of a train, which looks to strike him but only injures Peter severely enough for him to fall asleep on the train.

Peter awakens in a Holland prison cell. He phones Happy to come fetch him after escaping. Peter sobs and says he doesn't understand why Tony would choose him as a successor when he constantly messing everything up as Happy cares to his wounds. Happy reassures Peter that Tony had a good reason for believing in him and that he would turn out to be the hero he needs to be. Before they travel to London to save his buddies, Peter gets up and uses Tony's computer to design a new costume for himself.

The bus, which is being driven by one of Beck's thugs, is taking the class on a sightseeing tour of London. When Mysterio prepares the Air Elemental for combat, they come to a stop on the London Bridge. Spidey arrives for fight wearing a new outfit. Happy flies to pick up Ned, MJ, Betty, and Flash, but his plane is destroyed, forcing the others to flee into a mediaeval tower as drones pursue them. They hide in a chamber, but before being confined to the space, MJ uses a mace to take out a drone.

In order to cause the drones to collide and end the illusion, Spidey enters the Air Elemental illusion. He continues to eliminate additional drones until Mysterio has him in a corner and is confronted by a swarm of drones while deceived. While Spidey uses his Spider-Sense to destroy every drone, one of them accidentally shoots Mysterio in the confusion. Beck tries to kill Peter with one final illusion, but it fails, leaving Beck to die in disgrace as Peter leaves to retrieve EDITH.

Peter then turns off each drone one by one. He then meets MJ on the bridge as they run there to meet. They kiss after expressing their shared emotions. Fury makes another attempt to capture Peter, but Happy advises him to leave the young man alone because he is with his new girlfriend.

The pupils go back home. Peter sits Happy and May down to talk about their ostensibly growing relationship, but Happy believes they are dating, while May believes they were simply having a fling. Next, Peter dons the Spidey disguise to meet MJ on a date. Despite her fear of heights, he takes her on a tour of the city.

Mid-Credits: Following their "date," Spider-Man leaves MJ in the streets. Then, in the centre of the city, they hear a live news broadcast. Beck reportedly made a video before he passed away and gave it to the Daily Bugle. It is displayed by none other than the cunning and aggressive head editor J. Jonah Jameson (played by none other than J.K. Simmons), and what plays is a video that Beck altered to give the impression that Spider-Man was behind the drone assaults on London. Then Beck reveals Spidey to be Peter Parker in front of the entire city, shocking New Yorkers and placing Peter in a very precarious situation.

Post-Credits: It is revealed that Fury and Maria were actually the Skrulls Talos and Soren (Ben Mendelsohn) (Sharon Blynn). Talos updates Fury on what just transpired and informs him that he had instructed them to give EDITH to Peter. The next scene depicts Fury unwinding aboard a Skrull spacecraft that he is allegedly commandeering.
