Ant-Man and the Wasp
As Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) go for a mission in 1987, their young daughter Hope (Madeleine McGraw) is left in the care of their maid. They shrink down to the size of Ant-Man and the Wasp in order to prevent a Soviet nuclear missile from exploding inside of US soil. Janet shrinks down to the subatomic level to dump the missile into the ocean after realising they can't get small enough to fit between the steel plates. However, she gets lost in the quantum realm and is later thought to have perished.
Hank, who is now played by Evangeline Lilly, tells Hope (the new Ant-Man), that there could be a method to bring Janet back after Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), the new Ant-Man, went sub-atomic and succeeded in returning to normal size.
Since breaking the Sokovia Accords by collaborating with Captain America in Stuttgart, Germany, Scott has been under house arrest. Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson), who is spending the day with him, is his companion. With the aid of Luis (Michael Pena), Scott has made up an entire space in his home for kids to play in, complete with a slide that extends out the door.
Scott's foot, regrettably, manages to breach the perimeter's fence and summons the FBI to his home. To make sure Scott isn't acting suspiciously, agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) supervises the inspection. Scott tells Woo that he had to think outside the box in order to amuse Cassie, including doing sleight-of-hand magic. Cassie departs with Maggie (Judy Greer) and Paxton as the FBI departs (Bobby Cannavale).
Scott tries to keep himself busy as he only has three days remaining of his home imprisonment. After taking a bath, he dreams that he is Janet playing hide-and-seek with a little Hope. Despite the fact that neither Scott nor Hope have spoken to Hank since his arrest, Scott subsequently gives him a call. He shares the dream he had with Hank. Scott is calmed by something flying in the room hours later.
Hope is transporting Scott somewhere in a shrunken van when Scott awakens. She informs him that she removed his ankle bracelet and placed it on Scott's pet big ant. As they go to the lab, they inform Scott that they have built a tunnel to the Quantum Realm in an effort to rescue Janet. Hank and Hope conclude that Scott and Janet are related as a result of the time he spent in the Quantum Realm after Scott fully reveals his dream.
To make the tunnel function, they need a crucial electronic component, so they set out to find someone who has it. Hank makes the lab smaller so he can carry it. Yet, they are unaware that a transparent figure is observing them.
As Scott and Hank keep an eye on the situation from inside the van, the three arrive at a restaurant where Hope meets with Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins), a black market tech dealer. Hope is known to Burch as "Susan," but he already knows who she really is by the time she arrives. Burch appears to go away because she won't give Hope the part she needs. Hope in her Wasp suit knocks Burch and his thugs around as they attempt to leave. She has wings and blasters, which strikes Scott as impressive. She battles them in the kitchen of the restaurant and, while dodging knives thrown at her, manages to inflate a salt shaker to kill one of the bad guys.
The earlier-mentioned Ghost attacks Hope as she reaches for the component (Hannah John-Kamen). Hope's punches have no effect on her because she can phase through anything. With an updated Ant-Man suit, Scott joins Hope to assist her, but Ghost manages to get away, find her way to the van, and take Hank's lab. Hope and Hank are taken into hiding by Scott at X-Con, a security firm owned by Luis and staffed by Dave (Tip "T.I." Harris) and Kurt (David Dastmalchian). There, they attempt to devise a strategy to recover the lab. Hank believes he must unwillingly turn to Bill Foster, a former buddy and business partner (Laurence Fishburne).
Ava Starr, better known as Ghost, visits her house. She phases uncontrollably and needs to spend the night in a dedicated chamber.
Scott, Hope, and Hank visit the college where Bill teaches while hiding their identities. He still has a grudge against Hank for the job they did together on Project Goliath, where Bill achieved a height of 21 feet, decades previously. After that, Scott sees Woo and his fellow agents outside and assumes they are aware he is inside. Bill advises them to identify the lab by changing a defractor on one of the suit's regulators before they leave. Scott informs them they can locate it in the older suit, which is in a trophy that Cassie brought to school for show-and-tell, since Hank says they can't use the new Ant-Man outfit because it's still under construction.
As Scott and Hope break into Cassie's school, Scott's regulator breaks and shrinks him to a child's size. Before they are discovered, they reach Cassie's classroom and remove the outfit from the trophy.
The trio finds Ava's house and the lab, but when they get there, she knocks them all out and ties them up. She confesses that Bill, who raised her as a youngster, is her employer. The experiment her father, Elihas Starr (Michael Cerveris), tried to use to enter the Quantum Realm failed when his own tunnel proved unstable. Young Ava ran back for her father when his wife Catherine (Riann Steele) attempted to flee with her.
Elihas and Catherine were killed in the massive explosion that the tunnel created, but Ava survived and her molecules destabilised, causing her uncontrollable phasing. Now, even though it would endanger Janet's life, she and Bill intend to use Janet's quantum energy to help Ava become normal. Hank tricks Bill into grabbing a can of Altoids for his medication by pretending to have a heart attack, but the can actually contains Hank's trained ants, which swell to a massive size and help liberate the three, allowing them to escape and reclaim the lab.
After expanding the lab, Janet assumes control of Scott's mind and gives Hope and Hank access to a new algorithm that will enable them to stabilise the tunnel and enter the coordinates to find her. She also gives them two hours to find her before the Quantum Realm becomes too unstable for them to reach her for another century.
Although the villains swear it's not a truth serum, Burch and his henchmen use it to question Luis, Dave, and Kurt at X-Con. Scott is with Hope and Hank in the woods where they set up the lab, according to Luis. After hearing this, Ava emerges and pulls out the wheels of Burch's van, heading off to find the heroes herself.
Burch then gives the whereabouts of Scott to corrupt FBI Agent Stoltz (Sean Kleier). Stoltz alerts Woo, and Luis warns Scott right away so that he can leave before being discovered evading his house arrest. Although Scott says he has Hope, who Cassie believes would also be a wonderful fit, Cassie is with him and says he could use a partner to support him, meaning herself.
After shrinking the facility, Hope and Hank are apprehended by FBI personnel. Ava knocks Stoltz unconscious before grabbing the lab for herself. Hope and Hank escape from the FBI headquarters with the aid of Scott's trained ants. The three are led to the lab's location by the ants, and Luis joins them as backup. Hank frees Bill using the huge ants so that he can use his previous outfit to enter the Quantum Realm and search for Janet. Luis grabs the lab as it shrinks once again. Ava attacks Scott as he is acting as Ant-Man, but Scott manages to repel her long enough for Hope and Luis to flee.
Scott takes off on a flying ant to reach the rendezvous site in time to meet Hope and Luis, but they are being pursued by Burch and his men as well as Ava. Hope enlarges a Hello Kitty Pez dispenser to toss at one of the thugs and shrinks and expands the van to figuratively scare them away. Hope transforms into The Wasp to battle Ava as Scott grows to Big Man to stop them. Burch grabs the lab before sprinting to the docks and boarding a ship to escape.
To catch up with him and stop him from reclaiming the lab, Scott grows once more. When Luis arrives in a different automobile to meet with them, Scott loses his balance due to his immense size and plunges into the ocean. To save him, Hope swims below.
Hank nearly loses his signal in the quantum realm, but he eventually finds Janet at her coordinates, and they tearfully reconcile with a kiss. Ava and Bill are preparing to take Janet's quantum energy as the lab has shrunk back to its original size. As Ava and Bill start the procedure, Hank and Janet start to return, which drains Janet. As soon as Scott and Hope arrive, they take away their equipment, giving Hank and Janet enough time to leave the Quantum Realm. Finally, Hope is reunited with her mother.
As Janet notices Ava's condition, she lays her hands on her to help her feel more secure and to stop phasing. As the heroes take the lab, everyone leaves. Ava informs Bill that they need to part ways even if he wants to continue to protect her. Dave and Kurt assist Luis in taking out Burch and his thugs outside the lab before giving them a truth serum injection just as the police show up, which results in their arrest. Burch and his henchmen freely admit everything.
Woo believes he has spotted Scott in public as Ant-Man, but when he gets to his house, he discovers Scott there. Finally, Scott's sentence is over, and he is once again a free man. He goes to see Cassie as his first action.
In order to prevent his company from failing, Luis finds a new, wealthy client in the last scene. Janet is accompanied by Hank to the beach, where they construct a brand-new home that he enlarges to its original size. Scott makes himself, Hope, and Cassie smaller in the car so they can watch a drive-in movie on a laptop. A big butterfly then starts to disturb them.
Mid-Credits Scene: With Hope's assistance, Hank and Janet have constructed the Quantum Tunnel in a van on a rooftop so that Scott can pass through. He acquires quantum energy to continue assisting Ava's stabilisation. Scott hears radio static while he waits to be brought back, but no one can be heard on the other end. Back in the real world: After the conclusion of "Avengers: Infinity War," Thanos snapped his fingers, turning Hank, Janet, and Hope into dust. This leaves Scott permanently imprisoned in the Quantum Realm with no prospect of returning to Earth.
Post-Credits Scene: The majority of San Francisco looks to have been affected by the Gauntlet; more than half of all life in the city, on Earth, and in the universe has perished. The only remaining life is the huge ant, who is still in Scott's apartment and still playing his drum set.
The final paragraph reads "Ant-Man and the Wasp will return...?"
