Spider-Man: Homecoming

The movie starts with the Avengers fighting the Chitauri in New York City. Michael Keaton's character, Adrian Toomes, a salvage worker, is displaying a drawing of the Avengers in action that his daughter created to a coworker. They then set to work dismantling the Chitauri leviathan while collecting any available technology. A U.S. Department of Damage Control van soon follows.

Toomes is given the order to stop working by Anne Marie Hoag (Tyne Daly), who also adds that they would be seizing all of their results. As a Damage Control agent insults Toomes, he complains and even attacks the man. Then, Hoag reiterates her demand that Toomes stop working.

Damage Control's mastermind, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), is revealed to be behind it. As a result, Toomes gathers three of his coworkers, Phineas Mason (Michael Chernus), Herman Schultz (Bokeem Woodbine), and Jackson Brice (Logan Marshall-Green), to continue their work of collecting Chitauri technology despite orders. Eight years later, Toomes and his men are still at it, with Toomes bringing in a bag of Chitauri power core while wearing his Vulture suit.

While travelling to Berlin with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) for what is actually Tony recruiting Peter to assist him during the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is keeping a video journal (2016). Peter is ecstatic when Happy displays the new Spider-Man suit that Tony constructed for him. Later, as Captain America and the other Avengers were fighting in the airport, he recorded the action alongside Iron Man and everyone else on his side of the loyalists. Peter is then driven home by Tony in his limousine, leaving him energised for their upcoming task.

Peter is still awaiting word from Happy regarding any upcoming missions two months later. He resumes his regular student status at Midtown High School. Along with Ned (Jacob Batalon), Peter decides to construct a Lego Death Star. Peter is constantly teased by snooty rich kid Flash Thompson and has a crush on a senior named Liz (Laura Harrier) (Tony Revolori). When not in school, Peter continues to patrol the city as Spider-Man, assisting citizens and battling crime. Peter quits his school's decathlon team as a result of his Spider-Man duties, which he refers to as the Stark internship. Peter covertly develops new web fluid for his shooters when he is in school.

One evening, Spidey foils a bank robbery attempt by four criminals wearing Avengers masks. When one of the thieves uses a device that emits a tremendous blast to blow up the bank and the bodega across the street, Spidey arrives and begins to combat the villains. Spidey runs over to help the bodega owner (and his cat).

Peter doesn't try to tell Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) that he went out; instead, he returns discreetly to his room through his window. He descends from the ceiling and sees Ned seated on his bed with the finished Lego Death Star. As soon as Ned realises that Peter is Spider-Man, he drops it and it breaks. Ned is stunned yet also ecstatic. He is compelled to remain silent by Peter.

Later, Peter takes May to dinner. May is attempting to elicit a response from Peter, who is being silent. Peter confesses that the "Stark Internship" has left him exhausted, and May acknowledges that she is not a fan of Stark. They watch video of the bank robbery, and May cautions Peter not to enter the area when there is such an upheaval.

Ned interrogates Peter about being Spider-Man for the entirety of the following school day. Peter even makes a passing reference of fighting him as they watch a PSA from Chris Evans' Captain America. Ned announces in front of everyone that Peter knows Spider-Man when the lads overhear Liz talking to her pals about how she kind of has a crush on Spider-Man. Liz then extends an invitation to Peter and Ned to attend her party so that Peter can attempt to invite Spider-Man.

The moment the lads arrive at the party, Ned starts to pressure Peter into donning his Spider-Man costume. Until Flash starts bugging him, Peter is unwilling to. When he turns to go, he notices an explosion off in the distance. As he goes to look into it, he discovers Brice and Schultz selling Chitauri technology to Aaron Davis, a local mobster (Donald Glover). Ned tries to phone Peter, but his mobile rings, leading Brice and Schultz to believe Aaron was posing as them.

Spidey steps in and engages the criminals in combat. He pursues them until the Vulture flies over and seizes Spider-Man. As the man becomes entangled in his parachute, he lowers him into the river. Then, with the aid of a tracker built into his armour, Iron Man descends to save Spidey. Tony encourages Peter to keep out of crime-fighting for his own good even if he isn't wearing the suit because he is essentially summoning Peter. Peter considers going back to the party, but Ned has him hear through the phone how everyone is making fun of him thanks to Flash. Peter next discovers a weapon that one of the criminals abandoned.

Brice acknowledges dropping his weapon when utilising his electric gauntlets at Toomes' lair (calling himself "Shocker"). Toomes fires Brice from the team because he is being irresponsible, but Brice counters by threatening to reveal their trade secrets to Toomes' wife and the whole public. In response, Toomes takes a strong rifle off Mason's desk and burns Brice with it (mistaking an anti-gravity gun for a laser gun). The gauntlets are then given to Schultz so that he can play Shocker.

Peter disassembles the weapon with Ned's assistance in search of a power core. He locates Schultz once more, installs a tracker on him, and learns that he is travelling to Maryland. Peter re-joins the decathlon squad as they travel to Washington, D.C., for the Nationals tournament.

Peter leaves in secret and seeks Schultz out in his Spider-Man disguise. He stops the bad guys from stealing a Damage Control truck that is loaded with more weapons. Spidey gets knocked out while attempting to stop the criminals, and when he awakens, he is in a Damage Control warehouse with no way out because the door is locked until the next morning.

Peter addresses the artificial intelligence (AI) system inside his suit as Karen (voiced by Jennifer Connelly). She assists Peter in better comprehending the operation of his suit. Even so, he confesses to her his affections for Liz. He also discovers that the power core essentially functions as a bomb that will detonate in the presence of radiation. Peter asks Karen to assist him in unlocking the doors as he rushes to the competition after realising he will miss it.

Despite Peter missing the entire contest, the team succeeds owing to Michelle Jones, a quiet loner (Zendaya). The group next makes their way to the Washington Monument. He tries to call Ned to warn him about the power core he was holding, but is unable in doing so. He hurries to the Monument as Spidey, but as the team is taking the elevator up, the core in Ned's backpack explodes. To save the crew, Spidey scales the Monument, but he must use considerable force to break the window.

Spidey is told to get to the ground by the police after they arrive in helicopters. Spidey defies their commands and jumps over the helicopters, swinging from the ground. He breaks in and uses his web to try to hold the falling elevator, but the weight drags him down. He is able to support both the elevator and the web as people exit it. Liz is the final person in the elevator and almost falls, but Spider-Man saves her by grabbing her with his web.

Karen informs that Peter's Spider-Man costume has been recording everything he has witnessed back in New York. She sees Aaron, and Spidey later locates him in a parking structure. He makes an effort to question him in order to learn why he was attempting to steal the technology from Toomes's men. According to Aaron, he was attempting to evict them from his area. He assumes Spidey is fresh to the role of hero. Aaron informs Spidey that Toomes would meet later that day at the Staten Island Ferry to obtain additional technology.

Toomes is meeting with another crook named Mac Gargan on the ferry (Michael Mando). Tony calls Spidey, but he lies about what he's doing. Spidey notices Schultz on the boat, but he also notices Toomes and is unaware that Schultz is Vulture. He enters and renders Gargan and his goons helpless. Spidey blocks Toomes' attempt to use a weapon on him with his webbing.

As a result, the Stream is divided in two and the weapon becomes unstable. The Ferry continues to split despite Spider-efforts Man's to hold it together with his webbing. Iron Man and his tiny drones arrive to repair the Ferry and save everyone while Spidey hangs on for dear life.

Spidey goes to a rooftop and hides. He is discovered by Iron Man, who scolds him for not listening to him and deceiving him about what he is doing with the suit. Peter then makes an attempt to blame Tony for what occurred on the ferry by saying that he disregarded his advice on the Vulture, but this time Tony comes out of his suit and admits that he actually DID hear Peter, as he sent the FBI on the same ferry that Toomes was on. He continues by reminding Peter that even though no one was hurt, he would have been responsible had someone been.

Tony requests that Peter return the Spider-Man outfit to him, feeling that he is not deserving of it. Tony responds that Peter doesn't deserve it if he doesn't deserve it if he's nothing without the suit to Peter's pleading that he's nothing without it. Tony could not be persuaded by Peter to stick with the suit. Dejected, he returns home to visit Aunt May. She chastises him for not returning her calls all day and even went to the police to inquire about his whereabouts. She is also aware of his habit of sneaking out of the house at night and his absence from the Decathlon competition in Washington on that particular day. He confesses to losing his internship after being pressed for an explanation.

Peter starts his academic career over again and spends more time with Ned. Liz recognizes Peter when he runs into her at school and he tells her he likes her. She accepts his invitation to the homecoming dance after that.

As Peter goes to pick up Liz the night of the dance, he discovers that her father is none other than...ADRIAN TOOMES. Peter and Liz are driven to the dance by Toomes after some embarrassing shots. Adrian begins slowly piecing together Peter's circumstances and discovers that he is Spider-Man when Liz informs him about Peter's past and the events in Washington. Liz exits the vehicle as Toomes subtly threatens Peter, stating that if he continues to interfere with his affairs, he will kill both him and anybody he cares about.

Peter discovers during the dance that Toomes intends to steal a shipment of weapons from an aircraft leaving the Avengers Tower and travelling to their new headquarters. Liz is left behind as Peter races to grab his handmade Spider-Man suit in order to stop Toomes. When he goes outdoors, Schultz attacks him with his gauntlets. Peter reaches out to his web shooter, but Schultz keeps beating him. Ned intervenes to save him, and Peter uses the webbing to fasten Schultz to a bus.

Ned serves as Spider-eyes Man's and ears as he rushes to stop Toomes. Happy refuses to care about Ned's attempts to contact him and hangs up. Toomes is located by Spidey in his den. When Toomes unleashes his suit, it flies around the area damaging support beams and causes a pile of debris to fall on Spidey. Toomes tries to persuade Peter that he's simply doing what he thinks is necessary and that the world isn't as black and white as the young Peter believes it to be.

Toomes abandons him to perish. Peter fights to remove the debris from himself and worries that he may perish. Then, recalling Tony's advice, he utilises all of his might to free himself, realising that he must complete the task without Tony's assistance.

As Vulture catches the plane, Spidey clings to his armour. Spidey thwarts Toomes' efforts to obtain the supplies he needs. In the aeroplane, Toomes dons his outfit and battles Spidey. The plane is directed towards Coney Island when the turbines are destroyed. As the plane crashes, Spidey is able to steer it onto the beach and away from the city.

Spidey tries to warn Toomes that the weapons are ready to explode as he makes an attempt to flee with them. Even so, Toomes tries to take off, but the cores burst up and he crashes to the ground. As Spidey locates Toomes and saves him, he leaves him beside the other weapons for Happy and the authorities to discover later, which results in Toomes' imprisonment.

Peter learns at school that Liz and her mother are relocating to Oregon while her father is on trial. Her anger towards Peter for abandoning her at the dance has not subsided. She bids Peter farewell in the hopes that he will come to his senses. Michelle is named team captain, and Peter is reinstated on the decathlon squad. She soon states that she goes by the moniker MJ. A text telling Peter to use the restroom follows. Happy is there, appreciating Peter for his actions. Tony wants to meet him, he says, and tells Peter that.

Peter is brought to the new Avengers HQ by Tony and Happy. Tony gives Peter a brand-new Spider-Man suit and informs him that there are reporters waiting behind the wall for a major announcement, which indicates that Tony is about to formally appoint Peter as a new Avenger. Peter declines Tony's offer, stating that he would rather remain the "pleasant neighborhood Spider-Man" for the time being.

When Peter asks Tony if he tested him and whether he passed before leaving, Tony appears to affirm this and adds that there are no reporters. Tony, however, is truly taken aback by Peter's decision to decline him and the fact that there were so numerous reporters outside. When Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) emerges, she inquires about Peter. Happy steps in to save them by providing Tony a ring so he can pop the question to Pepper because she is upset that he walked out.

As Peter returns home, he discovers Tony's bag on his bed. Tony has returned Peter's original Spider-Man suit after becoming persuaded. Peter then proudly dons it, but Aunt May yells "WHAT THE F—" as she realises she is behind him.

Towards the middle of the credits, Gargan mentions that he and other criminals are attempting to band together to kill Spider-Man as Toomes is being held captive in The Raft. Then Gargan says he heard a story that Toomes is familiar with Spider-Man. Toomes disputes this, claiming that if Spider-Man knew, he would already be dead. After that, he departs from Gargan to visit Liz and his wife.

After Credits Scene: Captain America appears in another PSA discussing patience and how being patient can occasionally result in outcomes that aren't worthwhile. The PSA director is then queried as to how many more PSAs are still for him to do.
